Brig. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, who was addressing a meeting of high school students on the occasion of the national Basij week in Tehran on Saturday, said that the IRGC aerospace forces had reached self-sufficiency in manufacture of defensive industry with production of high-flown drones.
“Now, we have reached self-sufficiency relying on the efforts of our Revolutionary young experts; we are now able to produce all defense facilities inside the country,” said Hajizdeh. Pointing to the history of attempts to manufacture UAVs in years of war with Iraq, Hajizadeh told the meeting of students that the intelligence collection of enemy’s strongholds during the war was the main driving force behind an attempt to acquire or manufacture these facilities which would provide the army with precise information; “Although, an initial drone, called ‘Mohajer,’ (Persian for ‘immigrant’) flew only 3km, now we are manufacturing drones with diverse missions and a wide range of flight up to 3000km; during war years, the main body of the front of Islam were young adults and teens, who displayed their strong resolve and tactical talent to find victory in an unequal war with the imperialist west,” Hajizadeh emphasized.
“By the end of war, this spirit was reinstated in the defensive industry,” added the commander, “now, we have strategic capabilities which have forced the great powers to come to negotiation,” he said, believing that “the more important factor contributing to this advantage is national resolve against the excessive demands and bullies of the enemies.”
Hajizadeh also asserted that Iran’s revolutionary strong will won the hearts of other Islamic nations, which scared the western powers the more. Pointing to the grounding of US intelligence drone RQ-170, Hajizadeh told the students that the grounding of such a complex intelligence apparatus demonstrated the blessings of the God and the piety of the warriors.
He also said that the IRGC expertise had used only 10 per cent of the RQ-170 original drone, and the major part of the project including hunting, tracing, reverse engineering, and decoding were all achieved by IRGC experts.
